Fight the Fight (FTF) – Official Competition Rules
FTF exists to offer safe, honorable, and rewarding amateur boxing opportunities to adult fighters age 18 and up. These rules govern all sanctioned FTF bouts and provide clarity to fighters, coaches, and officials.
🔒 1. ELIGIBILITY
- Fighters must be 18+ and have never competed professionally.
- All fighters must complete the FTF Fighter Participation Agreement.
- All fighters must pass medical pre-screening, including:
- Blood pressure and heart rate check
- Verbal health disclosure
- Pre-fight hydration test
- FTF reserves the right to deny participation based on safety or conduct concerns.
🧪 2. HYDRATION PROTOCOL
- All fighters must pass hydration testing:
- 72 hours before the event
- 24 hours before the event
- Morning of the event
- Any failed hydration test results in disqualification from the bout.
- There is no weight cutting allowed through dehydration.
🧤 3. EQUIPMENT
- Gloves: Only 12 oz gloves are permitted, regardless of weight class.
- Hand Wraps: Professional wrap required. All wraps will be inspected and approved prior to competition.
- Mouthguard: Mandatory. No fighter may compete without one.
- Headgear: Mandatory for all fighters, with no exceptions.
- Cup Protection: Groin protectors are required for all fighters.
- Chest Protection: Not permitted for any fighter.
- Uniform: Solid-color trunks and shoes are required. Shirts optional with mutual consent. Solid-color trunks, shoes, and shirt or tank. Shirts optional with consent from both parties.
🕓 4. BOUT STRUCTURE
- FTF follows ISAC's standard rules in most respects.
- Rounds: 5 total rounds per bout.
- Round 1: 150 seconds (2 minutes and 30 seconds)
- Rounds 2–5: 90 seconds (1 minute and 30 seconds)
- Rest: 1-minute rest periods between all rounds.
- No standing 8-counts unless safety dictates.
- No 3-knockdown rule unless announced prior.
- Referee may stop the bout at any time for safety.
📏 5. SCORING
- All official scoring will be conducted by judges assigned by the Idaho State Athletic Commission (ISAC).
- FTF has no role in determining win/loss outcomes.
- Scoring disputes must follow ISAC procedures.
⛔ 6. FOULS
Automatic point deductions or disqualification for:
- Headbutting, biting, or striking with elbows
- Low blows or hitting after the bell
- Spinning backfists or any MMA-style strikes
- Excessive holding or clinching without follow-up
- Striking while opponent is down or turning away
- Excessive showboating, taunting, or disrespectful conduct
Fouls are subject to:
- 1st Offense: Verbal warning
- 2nd Offense: 1-point deduction
- 3rd Offense: Disqualification
💰 Bonus Pay Deductions:
- Fighters will have bonus earnings reduced for each foul committed.
- Deductions will align with severity and number of fouls.
- Fighters cannot go below zero — minimum payout remains $0.
🧠 7. COACHING RULES
- One coach in the corner per fighter
- Must remain seated during rounds
- No entering the ring unless prompted
- Excessive yelling, profanities, or instructions in other languages that violate sportsmanship will result in ejection
🎥 8. MEDIA & PROMOTION
- All fighters agree to be filmed, streamed, and photographed
- FTF reserves media rights to distribute and monetize content
- Fighters may be eligible for content royalties as outlined in the Fighter Agreement
💥 9. BONUS ELIGIBILITY
- FTF is solely responsible for determining and awarding bonuses.
- Bonuses are awarded based on performance, technical skill, sportsmanship, and entertainment value.
- Bonus decisions are independent from ISAC scoring and do not affect official win/loss outcomes.
- A fighter must complete all pre-fight requirements to be eligible.
- Bonuses are subject to adjustment based on fouls, attitude, or failure to follow league rules.
🚫 10. DISQUALIFICATION & SUSPENSIONS
- Any attempt to game or manipulate the rules or exploit perceived rule gaps in a way that places a fighter at unacceptable physical or psychological risk will result in immediate disqualification and review for suspension or permanent removal.
- FTF reserves the right to evaluate such actions under a standard of fighter safety, even in the absence of a specifically tailored rule.
- Fighters disqualified for conduct will be subject to:
- No bonus eligibility for that event
- 30 to 365-day suspension from competition
- Repeat violations will be grounds for permanent removal from the league
⚖️ 11. DISPUTES & APPEALS
- All scoring disputes must be submitted through ISAC channels
- FTF reserves full discretion in final bonus decisions
- No public airing of disputes will be permitted during events or online platforms
✅ 12. ACCEPTANCE OF RISK
- Fighters accept the inherent risks of boxing by signing the Fighter Agreement
- FTF will take all reasonable steps to minimize injury through safe matchmaking, hydration protocols, medical checks, and supervision
